Secondary Education Graduation Academy (SEGA)

This program provides students with the chance to receive a high school diploma in an optional school setting.

The student will have

  • an accelerated route to graduation
  • a personalized education plan (PEP) to fit the needs and pacing of the student
  • an opportunity to focus on goals beyond high school

Students must be recommended by the RHS administration and must attend SEGA at a separate campus from RHS.  Renovations to the TKS Building on Knee St are being completed to house SEGA.

For further information, contact RHS Assistant Principal Susan Farris.

BRIDGE MATHEMATICS BEGINS!

Across the state of Tennessee, high schools, including RHS, will began a new mathematics course in the Fall, 2012.  Designed for students who scored less than 19 on their math sub-score of the ACT, Bridge Math will work to improve ACT scores and each student's chances of succeeding in their freshman college course.

The wide range of topics will include, but will not be limited to, fractions (changing the ingredients of a recipe), functions (relating payment sizes to the total cost of cars), percents (calculating taxes, commissions, or tips), and areas or volumes (designing gardens or shipping crates).

Using calculators, online practice with tutoring, cooperative groups which present results in various media, guest speakers, and reflections and discovery with individual Mathematician's Notebooks, students will have many opportunities to grow mathematically.

*The student's math sub-score will determine which math course a student takes his/her fourth year of high school.

THE NEXT ACT DATE:  TUESDAY, MARCH 19.
