Lauderdale County's secondary program (Grades 9-12) is broad based. The program will allow each potential graduate the opportunity to pursue the course of study which will best lead to a successful transition from the elementary/middle/secondary environment to the post-secondary environment. Students may select courses of study in the areas of art, music, languages, mathematics, science, social studies, health, physical education, career-technical education (business education, family and consumer science, construction, agriculture, health careers, technological education, career development, state/area technology center) and traffic safety. A wide range of classes is offered in each curricular area giving the student the opportunity to "explore" and/or "develop fully" a variety of academic pursuits. Advanced placement classes are available in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and languages. Students are encouraged to fulfill the State Board of Education graduation requirements and to complete the Tennessee Scholars Course of Study. Tennessee Scholars is an initiative designed to encourage students to take a more rigorous course of study in order to be better prepared for the ACT and to be successful in a post-secondary experience.
