Career and Technical Education 

— Preparing today’s students for tomorrow’s opportunities —

The goal of Career and Technical Education in Lauderdale County is to prepare students to be career and/or college ready.  Students have the opportunity to participate in a rigorous and relevant career and technical education program that leads to academic achievement and eventually to successful employment.  We believe that everyone needs some type of post-secondary training whether it is receiving on-the-job training or attending a Tennessee Technology Center, technical institute, community college, or four-year university. It is our responsibility to provide the necessary experiences and tools to help students make appropriate career-related decisions. 

Programs of study are available in the areas of Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, Marketing, Business Technology, Health Science, Construction, and Criminal Justice.  Beginning with the Class of 2013, all students must complete a program of study containing a specific sequence of courses in order to receive a high school diploma.  Students are encouraged to select a career path or elective focus that is suitable to his or her interests and aptitudes.

We are proud to be part of the High Schools That Work initiative.  HSTW, part of the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), works with schools to strengthen the academic preparation of career-technical education students.
